Season 1

Season 1 - USS Archerfish (SSN 678)

from 1978 - 1986

PollierProductions: Season 1 - USS Archerfish (SSN 678) from 1978 - 1986

Life onboard a USS nuclear-powered submarine. We walk the Listener through what that Life was like, told from the perspectives of 27 Enlisted Sailors and 4 Officers in 8 Episodes.

Everyone we interviewed answered the same basic questions, and we ended up with a compelling story. This entire Season (Buckle up! 5 hours!) is an outline of Life on a submarine.

The 1st Episode is getting to the submarine and any first impressions. The next 3 Episodes are learning the systems, watches, and people. Episode 5 and 6 are the ‘Third Act’ Action (injuries, lost Sailors, intrigue), and the last two Episodes are backward-looking: what did you take with you when you left? And. Maybe 40% of the 8 Episodes is a master class in leadership and training – provided you can hear it. The rest is interesting, compelling, and fun.

As you listen, please keep in mind that people are “remembering”, so we tried to not interrupt them. The Jargon is minimized, but sometimes people use acronyms or terms that are unfamiliar to non-Submariners. When that happens, we follow-up with a story or explanation that closes any knowledge gaps!
